A caregiver helping a senior woman at home

How It Works

One relationship, built with intention

From your first conversation to ongoing care - every step is designed around building one real, accountable relationship between your parent and their caregiver.

From first call to ongoing care

Every family's journey begins with a real conversation. No intake forms, no sales scripts — just listening. Here's what happens from there.

01

The Conversation

It starts with listening. We learn who your parent is - their routines, personality, cultural background, language, and what a good day looks like. No forms. No sales pitch. Just a real conversation about what matters.

This typically takes 30-45 minutes, either by phone or in person. We want to understand your parent as a person, not just a care plan.

02

Care Assessment

We visit your parent at home to understand their daily routines, physical needs, home environment, and what kind of support will genuinely help. This is also when your parent gets to ask questions and share what matters to them.

The assessment covers physical needs, cognitive health, mobility, medication, nutrition, social engagement, and home safety.

03

Caregiver Matching

This is where we differ most. We don't assign whoever is available. We carefully select one caregiver whose skills, personality, language, and values are genuinely suited to your parent. The match is intentional, and it's protected.

We consider personality fit, cultural background, language, experience with specific conditions, and even shared interests. If the match isn't right, we'll find someone who is.

04

Ongoing Care

Your dedicated caregiver arrives - and keeps arriving. Same person, every visit. They learn your parent's preferences, notice changes, build genuine rapport. Your named care lead checks in proactively and is always reachable.

Daily visit notes, medication tracking, and proactive communication mean you always know what's happening. No more checking your phone in meetings.

05

Evolving Together

Care needs change. Your parent's plan adapts with them. Regular check-ins ensure the care plan stays current, the caregiver relationship stays strong, and your family's needs are being met.

If your parent's needs increase or change, we adjust seamlessly - no re-assessments from scratch, no new faces, no starting over.

Common questions

Traditional agencies assign caregivers based on who is available. You get rotating strangers, inconsistent care, and constant re-explaining. Affinity Hands matches one dedicated caregiver to your family - someone chosen for genuine fit with your parent's personality, culture, language, and needs. That relationship is protected, not rotated out for scheduling convenience.

We serve families across Metro Vancouver including Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Coquitlam, Port Moody, and New Westminster. We intentionally limit the number of families we work with to ensure genuine, accountable care.

It starts with a real conversation. We learn who your parent is - their routines, personality, cultural background, language, and what a good day looks like. Then we carefully select one caregiver whose skills, personality, and values are genuinely right for your parent. No algorithm. No last-minute substitutions.

Life happens - a caregiver may occasionally need time off. When it does, we communicate with you in advance, never last-minute. We have a carefully prepared backup who has been introduced to your parent and knows their routines. But these are rare exceptions, not the norm. Your dedicated caregiver is there, consistently.

We provide personal care, companion care, and comprehensive home support. This includes assistance with daily routines, medication management, mobility support, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and meaningful companionship. Care plans are tailored to your parent's specific needs and updated as those needs change.
